Meno is located in Major County (formerly part of Woods County, Oklahoma Territory) along U.S. Hwy 412. The town was established after the Land Run of 1893 by Mennonites who named the town after Dutch theologian Menno Simons. Reportedly, the second “n” was dropped inadvertently when town application papers were completed by the town’s founders.
