Okeene Rattlesnake Hunt

Since 1939, there has been the annual local tradition of rounding up Western Diamondback Rattlesnakes in the area and then hosting a ceremony where captured snakes are measured and prizes awarded for the biggest snake captured alive by professionals and by local amateurs, all of whom are registered to participate.

Not into snake hunting? See the Den of Death where skilled snake handlers put on a show with live snakes and the Butcher Shop where skilled snake handlers demonstrate how to prepare a snake for consumption as well as present an educational session on rattlesnakes. The weekend also includes vendor booths, food booths, carnival rides and games, and live music.
